Hotel or guest house ? What differences ?
A bed and breakfast is a house that offers furnished rooms in the home. Like a hotel, it is designed to accommodate tourists, professionals, families, couples, etc.
The owner receives his guests in a family context and in the respect of local traditions. This is why you can enjoy local specialities during your breakfast, such as locally roasted coffee or local cheeses.
In short, it is a house with services and facilities comparable to a hotel. But it is not the same.
|Indeed, there are several differences in terms of management and services. In a guest house, breakfast is included in the price. In a hotel it is usually an extra charge. The rooms in a hotel are usually quite standard regardless of which part of the world you are in. In a bed and breakfast, however, you will find more unique decorations. In our bed and breakfast Au Coin Du Spa, each of our rooms tells its own story.
|Adrien, the owner, has in his past professional experience stayed regularly at the hotel and was keen to share with his guests what he has enjoyed there. For him, it is important to be able to share the places to visit in Boulogne and the surrounding area, to exchange on the good restaurants working with fresh products like Le Cyrano and Chez Jules.
Each bed and breakfast will define the level of services it wishes to offer and it is not always easy for a guest used to hotels to find his way around. In our bed and breakfast Au Coin Du Spa, our wish is to offer a maximum of services that you can find in the most comfortable hotels.
This is why we have chosen to offer modern bathrooms with soap and shampoo, all equipped with a spa bathtub for a relaxing moment with your partner or family. We have equipped our rooms with hairdryers, flat screen televisions, high speed wifi, courtesy trays with kettle and Nespresso coffee machine, bottle openers, different types of glasses, a fridge with minibar, bathrobes and shoes to access the outdoor spa, clock radio and even mobile air conditioners for our 3 largest rooms. On arrival you will find a large bottle of water provided free of charge, which is always appreciated after a long journey.
The only things we can't offer you, unlike some hotels, are
- a 24 hour reception as our guesthouse is family run. However, we have set up a key box to ensure late arrivals,
- a bar because we are located opposite the Boulogne sur Mer music conservatory, an establishment intended for children, and this proximity means that we cannot sell alcohol in public.
For Adrien, arriving in a hotel and not having water to drink is just unimaginable, which is why a large 1.5 litre bottle is waiting for you on arrival. Similarly, packing a hairdryer in a suitcase for one or more nights in a hotel should not be necessary, so even our flats are equipped with them.
Although originally from Pas de Calais, Adrien lived in Reims for several years where he discovered the world of champagne. This is why the champagnes offered in our minibars will delight connoisseurs. It is a 100% grand cru champagne from the house of Pehu Simonet and a 100% grand cru parcellaire champagne from the house of Lafalise Froissart, both located on the mountain of Reims in Verzenay.
Cleaning of rooms in hotels and guesthouses
As in a hotel, in a guest house you will find your bed made on arrival, towels in your bathroom and a daily cleaning will be done in your rooms, unless you do not wish it for the planet or in this period of Covid, and that you mention it to us in an express way. In our guesthouse, for long stays, we have chosen to change the sheets at least every 3 days, unless you request otherwise.
In our flats, you will also find the beds prepared for your arrival, towels, soap, shampoo and a courtesy tray. French VAT legislation does not allow us to do any intermediate cleaning during your stay. Therefore, there will be no cleaning in the flats between your arrival and departure. We thank you for returning the flats in a clean state, with the kitchen clean and the dishes tidy and the bins emptied.
|For the whole team at Au Coin Du Spa, it is important to get the best feedback on the cleanliness of our rooms, and even more so during this particular period of Covid. We therefore pay particular attention to this and are always on the lookout for ways to improve our services following the advice of our guests. In the 4 years that our guest house has been open, not a week goes by without us trying to make improvements and we intend to continue doing so. See you soon!
